Obituary for William "Bill" Kirby
William “Bill” Kirby, 80, of Mount Carmel, IL passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care & Rehab.
He was born on February 4, 1936 in Gibson County, IN the son of Raymond and Dorothy (Kendle) Kirby. Bill faithfully served his country in the United States Army.
He worked as a welder for Mount Carmel Machine Shop and Bridgeport Machine & Welding Shop. Bill loved spending time outdoors hunting and camping. He had a passion for air planes and very much enjoyed attending air shows in Osh Kosh Wisconsin. Bill was a member of The Mount Carmel Masonic Lodge #239. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his children, Lori (Tony) Abel of Keensburg, IL, Jeff (Elizabeth) Kirby of Marion, IL and John (Tracy) Kirby of Salina, KS; siblings, Phyllis Helseth, Reba Sollman and Gilbert Kirby; 10 grandchildren, including Emily and Logan Abel whom Bill loved spending time with.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob Kirby; and two sons, Mike Kirby and William Kirby II.
Family and friends are invited to gather from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Allan Wright officiating.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Allan Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton, IN.
