Obituary for Betty Hazel Jackson
Betty Hazel Jackson, 82, of Mount Carmel, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 07, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 25, 1932 in Overton County, TN the daughter of Willie Frank and Cora E. (Stover) Robbins. She married Gene H. Bud Jackson on November 28, 1950 in Carmi, IL. Bud preceded Hazel in death on October 22, 2012. Hazels favorite pastimes were fishing, camping, cooking for her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren whom were her greatest treasures. She greatly enjoyed the time she spent with them. Hazel loved Mount Carmel Golden Aces football and enjoyed cheering them on from her reserved place at the sidelines. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her seven children, Don (Betty) Jackson of Mount Carmel, Mike Jackson of Simpson, IL, Vickie (John) Jones of Mount Carmel, Jim (Donna) Jackson of Mount Carmel, Susie (Jerry) Taylor of Princeton, IN, T.A. (Becky) Jackson of Mount Carmel, and Lisa Dillard of Mount Carmel; nineteen grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; and best friend and sister in law, Bessie Robbins. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of sixty one plus years, Bud Jackson; brothers, Howard Robbins, Charles Robbins, and Clyde Robbins; sister, Ruby Diefenbaugh; and son in law, Nick Henson. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the Gospel Kingdom Church with Brother Brandon Hodgson officiating. Burial will follow at Friendsville Cemetery in Friendsville, IL. Family and friends may gather for a visitation from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the Gospel Kingdom Church. Memorial contributions may be made in Hazels memory to Wabash County Relay for Life. Memorial envelopes will be available at the church or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 N.
