Obituary for James D. "Jim" Deisher
James D. Jim Deisher, Sr., 66, of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born on October, 18, 1948 in Lafayette, IN, the son of Gilbert and Beulah (Wease) Deisher. He married Janet Kight on March 7, 1971 at the Free Methodist Church in Mount Carmel. They enjoyed forty four years of marriage. Jim loved his family and his two granddaughters were his pride and joy. Jim retired from Snap on Tools in Mount Carmel. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army. He served during the Vietnam War where he received a Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze stars, Army Commendation Medal with one bronze oak leaf cluster, and a Marksman Badge. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of Asbury Chapel United Methodist Church. Jim loved being outdoors, fishing, hunting, and working in his garden. He also enjoyed working on his tractors and tinkering around his house. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Deisher of Lancaster; son, James Jim (Tasha) Deisher of Indianapolis, IN; two granddaughters, Arabella Deisher and Savannah Deisher; siblings, Lois Bennett of Martinsville, IN and Jerry Deisher of West Salem, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Deisher; and sister, Fayetta Miller. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 9, 2015 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Vaughn Courter officiating. Burial will follow at Allendale Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Family and friends may gather for a visitation from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, June 8, 2015 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL. Memorial contributions may be made in Jims memory to Good Samaritan Hospice, 520 South 7th Street, Vincennes, IN 47591. Keepes Funeral Home is serving the family with the arrangements.
