Obituary for Paul R Garrett
Paul R. Garrett, 58, of Mount Carmel, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born on July 6, 1957 in Mount Carmel, the son of Ermal Leroy and Marcia (Crane) Garrett. Paul married Wanda Short on April 7, 1977. Together they enjoyed thirty eight years of marriage. Paul and Wanda enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren. He loved his family and would do anything for them. Paul and Wanda both worked for US Telecommunications and traveled all over the United States together. He loved being outdoors and fishing on the river. He loved animals especially his dogs. A favorite past time of Pauls was arrowhead hunting where his children often accompanied him. Paul will be missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Garrett of Mount Carmel; two sons, J.D. (Sis) Short of Mount Carmel, Kody (Elizabeth) Garrett of Mount Carmel; one daughter, Heather (Jeremy) Wood of Oakland City, IN; three brothers, Kevin Garrett of Paragould, AZ, Scott Garrett and David Garrett both of Mount Carmel; sister, Paula Garrett of Princeton IN; seven grandchildren, Odaisha, Dashea, Donyea, Kolton, Paul-Ray, Christin and Joseph. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Michael Leroy Garrett. Per Pauls wishes he will be cremated. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Heartland Worship Center, 212 W 2nd Street, Mount Carmel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Pauls memory to help offset funeral expenses. Memorial envelopes will be available at the church or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
