Obituary for Myron E. "Mike" Perkins
Myron E. “Mike” Perkins, 81, of Mount Carmel, IL passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. He was born on September 9, 1937 in Barnesville, Minnesota, the son of Roy and Martha (Iken) Perkins. Mike married Eva May Doades on March 15, 1969 in Shawneetown, IL and she preceded him in death on May 10, 2006. They enjoyed thirty seven years of marriage. Mike faithfully served his Country in the United States Marine Corps. During his service he served as an Automotive Mechanic and earned a good conduct medal. Mike played college football at North Dakota State. He was also an amateur golden glove boxer. He enjoyed being outdoors and hunting. Mike worked all over the United States as a glazier. He was a skilled tradesman who worked cutting, installing, and removing glass. Mike was his granddaughter, Shaelyn’s biggest fan. He enjoyed attending all of her sporting events cheering her on. He also had a love for animals especially his dogs. Mike was of Lutheran faith. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him. Mike will be remembered by his six sons, Michael Perkins of Mount Carmel, Ronnie Fulkerson of Mount Carmel, Danny Fulkerson of Pekin, IN, Billy Perkins of Fullerton, CA, Stephen Perkins of Fullerton, CA and Robert Perkins also of Fullerton, CA; one granddaughter, Shaelyn Marie Perkins of Carmi, IL; sisters, Virginia Klein of Fargo, SD, Dianatha Spandy of Fargo, SD and Patricia Hawf of Boise, ID; many loved nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the family members especially the Maricle family for their compassion care given to Mike. Mike was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eva May Perkins; two brothers, Ronnie and Telayne Perkins. Family and friends are invited to gather from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Gospel Kingdom Church. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Gospel Kingdom Church with Brother John Peach officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Keepes Funeral Home is serving the family with the arrangements.
