Obituary for William Eugene "Bill" Beckerman
William Eugene “Bill” Beckerman, 90, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on May 5, 1929 in the family home in rural Wabash County, Illinois, the sixth of seven children to Anthony and Augusta Louisa (Ewald) Beckerman.  He was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School Class of 1947.  Bill entered into the United States Army on December 11, 1950 and was honorably discharged on September 6, 1956.  Bill married Betty Jean Lashbrook on August 12, 1951 and she preceded him in death on September 24, 1998.  Following her passing, Bill married Lois Beck in 1999 who also preceded him in death.  Bill married Jeannie Hart on May 19, 2010 and she survives.  Through the years, Bill was blessed with many extended family members whom he loved. Bill will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.  Bill accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior as a young man and served Him faithfully throughout the remainder of his life.  Bill was a hard worker as a lifetime farmer in Wabash County. Among Bill’s hobbies, he was an avid golfer and loved spending time with family and friends on the golf course.  He was also a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan. Bill was the co-owner of Guy Hadley’s Cafe from 1984 through 1999, and spent many Sunday lunches visiting with the diners. Bill was a faithful member of Community Church of God.  He was active in the Church and served as treasurer, trustee, Sunday school superintendent as well as serving on the missions committee.  Bill also enjoyed serving as a Sunday school teacher with Betty for nearly fifty years.  Bill will be missed by his family and all who knew him. Bill will be remembered by his loving wife, Jeannie Beckerman of Mount Carmel; son, Terry Beckerman and wife Beth; three grandchildren, Brittany Campagna and husband Eric, Trey Beckerman and wife Kelsey, Cara Leach and husband Jonathan; five great grandchildren, Carter, Cohen and Ila Campagna, Phoebe and Olivia Leach; one brother, Virgil Beckerman of Princeton, IN; three nephews and four nieces. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Betty Beckerman and Lois Beckerman; brothers, Robert and Raymond Beckerman; sisters, Alkalethia Beckerman, Betty Hershberger and RoseAnn Smith; nephew, Larry Beckerman, niece, Barbara Fiscus; and grandniece, Lisa Goodson.    Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at the Community Church of God, 1532 College Drive, Mount Carmel, IL 62863. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at the Community Church of God with Reverend Eric Livingston officiating.  Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mount Carmel with Full Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to the Community Church of God Missions Fund.  Envelopes will be at the Church or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863. Keepes Funeral Home is serving the family with the arrangements.  To view Bill’s tribute wall, purchase flowers and leave condolences for the Beckerman family, please visit www.keepesfuneralhome.com
