Obituary for William "Bill" Vines
William Bill Vines, 82, of Mount Carmel, IL, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015 at his residence with his loving family at his side. He was born on June 18, 1932 in White County, IL, the son of Silas Sodie and Sadie (Lloyd) Vines. Bill married Georgia Blazier on January 7, 1955 in Carmi, IL. Together they enjoyed sixty years of marriage. Bill served his country in the United States Army. He served in the Korean War and earned a Bronze Service Medal for his faithful service. Bill retired from Snap on Tools in Mount Carmel. Bill never knew a stranger and loved making friends everywhere he went. In his free time, he loved being outdoors, gardening, fishing, tilling and mowing with his tractor. He was especially proud of his family and had a great love for people. Bill was a member of Heartland Worship Center in Mount Carmel. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Vines of Mount Carmel; two daughters, Linda (Mike) Schneider of Allendale and Glenda (Joe) Sutton of Mount Carmel; five grandchildren, Michelle (Damon) Banks, Mark (Nicole) Jones, Brian (Cassie) Schneider, Jason Jones, Bethany Jones, step granddaughter, Christi (Joe) Whitledge; sixteen great grandchildren, Chole and Ellie McIntire, Levi, Sophie and Luke Banks, Dustan and Courtney Jones, Libby, Caleb, Gabby and Joel Schneider, Hunter and Skyla Jones, Jozie, Jaxon and Gunar Carlson; four sisters, Sally Vines, Betty (Jim) Blazier, Darlene (Gary) Reece, and Rita (Tom) Barbre; several cousins; nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry Buck Vines; and great grandson, Devan William Jones. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 4, 2015 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Hodgson officiating. Burial will follow at Allendale Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Family and friends may gather for a visitation from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2015 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863. Memorial contributions may be made in Bills memory to Heartland Worship Center, 212 W. 2nd Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
