Obituary for William "Bill" Gourley
William “Bill” Gourley, 79, of Mount Carmel, IL passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at his residence.

He was born on July 5, 1936 in Gibson County, IN the son of Thomas and Wallace “Gertrude” (Parker) Gourley. Bill married Nancy Stricker on April 21, 1996. Together they enjoyed twenty years of marriage.

Bill worked in the coal mines for over twenty years before retiring. He was an outdoorsman and loved grilling out, fishing and spending time with his family and friends on the Wabash River. Bill also enjoyed being with family at his river camp on the White River. He was a guest member of the VFW and also served as club manager of the Eagles for a short period of time.

Bill’s family includes his wife, Nancy Gourley; son, Tommy Gourley; daughter, Barbara Gourley; step daughter, Heather Hicks; two grandsons, David and Jason Gourley; granddaughter, Lori Jean; five step grandchildren, Jacob, Zach, Mikhail, Aby and Alex; three great grandchildren; sisters, Linda (Jim) Bogard, Susan Hargrave and Sherry White; many loved nieces and nephews. Bill will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jack & Herald Gourley; daughter, Susan Gourley; stepson, Jason Hicks.

In keeping with Bill’s wishes he will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
