Obituary for Wilbert Eldon Seaton
Wilbert “Eldon” Seaton, 89, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Transcendent Healthcare in Owensville, Indiana. He was born on August 7, 1928 in Wabash County, IL the son of Clarence and Naomi (Stein) Seaton. Eldon married Amy “Jean” Smith on May 27, 1946 in Mount Carmel. They enjoyed sixty seven years of marriage before Jean’s passing in 2013. Eldon and Jean loved spending time with their family. Together they enjoyed spending time outdoors and camping. They spent a lot of time camping at Conservation Lake in Wabash County and McCormick’s Creek in Owen County, IN. Eldon served as a director at the Wabash County Conservation Club. He also was a scout leader for many years. He earned the Wooden Badge and also the Wooden Buffalo Award for his volunteerism and leadership skills focused on making the scouting experience for youth to be the best possible training. Eldon also drove the church bus for many years. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Mount Carmel. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him. Eldon will be remembered by his children, Lewis (Rita) Seaton of Mount Carmel, Karen (Jim) Voliva of Bedford, IN, Charles (Jennifer) Seaton of Mount Carmel, David (Jackie) Seaton of Owensville, IN and Sally (Tom) Kelly of Mount Carmel; grandchildren, Ashley (Jeremiah) Knapp of Mount Carmel, Whitney (Derrick) Baker of Mount Carmel, Lance (Amber) Seaton of Fort Branch, IN, Courtney Burton of Princeton, IN, Logan (Emily) Seaton of Princeton, IN, Bonnie Lindell of Phoenix, AZ, Troy Compton of Bloomington, IN, Mike (Hilary) Seaton of Mount Carmel, Cynthia Seaton of Mount Carmel, Quentin (Kim) Seaton of Palestine, IL and Todd Cox of Linton, IN; twenty one great grandchildren, Aubree and Olivia Knapp, Lydia and Lyla Seaton, Ally, Kelsey and Clayton Burton, Jacob Seaton and little sister on the way, Jessica and Nate Lindell, Marcus, Kylee and Marlee Seaton, Lexy Seaton, Amy and Marjorie Compton, Ally Hamm, Brooklyn and Kale Hall, and Skyler Cox; sister, Willadene Scaggs of Mount Carmel, IL. Eldon was preceded in death by his by his parents; loving wife, Amy Jean Seaton; grandson, Steven Compton; one great grandson, Robert Compton and sister, Marjorie Fogle. Family and friends are invited to gather from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Highland Memorial Cemetery where Eldon will laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Jean Seaton.
