Obituary for Wanda M. Harms
Wanda M. Harms, 81, of Friendsville, Illinois went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at her residence surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on May 24, 1936 in Wabash County the daughter of Rufus and Minnie (Lampkin) Dyke. She married Wendell P. Harms on June 20, 1952 and together they enjoyed forty five years of marriage until his passing on June 30, 1997 Wanda had a love of cooking and developed that love into a business. Over the years she owned and operated Wanda’s Country Kitchen in several local areas including Keensburg, Lancaster and Patton Illinois. Wanda treasured spending time with her loved ones. Family gatherings, playing cards and taking trips with her family created some of her fondest memories.  Wanda was a devoted member of the Pentecostal Faith Assembly Church which she deeply loved. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Wanda will be remembered by her four sons, Phillip (Phyllis) Harms of Mount Carmel, David (Robin) Harms of Mt. Vernon, IN, Curtis (Trisha) Harms of Grayville, IL and Wesley (Lacey) Harms of Carmi, IL; two daughters, Sheila (Chad) Dent of Oakland City, IN and Teresa (Chris) Brooker of Allendale, IL; eighteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and another on the way; brothers, Bill Dyke of Midland, TX and Bobby Dyke of Hammond, IN; two sisters, Elizabeth McLain of Perkins, OK and Phyllis Lynch of Menard, TX; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wendell Harms; brother, Gene Dyke; sister, Gladys Brandhorst and special friend, John Baxley. Family and friends are invited to gather 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Pentecostal Faith Assembly Church in Friendsville, IL.  Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 27, 2017 also at the Church with Brother Bill Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Harrison Cemetery in Lancaster, IL. Memorial contributions may be made in Wanda’s memory to Pentecostal Faith Assembly Church Building Fund or to Celtic Hospice.
