Obituary for Travis Allen Harris
Travis Allen Harris, 47, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at his residence.  He was born on February 1, 1971 in Effingham, Illinois the son of Joe and Yvonne (Johns) Harris.  Travis graduated from Mount Carmel High School Class of 1989.   He went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from Eastern Illinois University.  He married Sara (Hancock) Harris on November 3, 2017. Travis was a true outdoorsman and loved spending time in nature.  Hobbies that he enjoyed were deer hunting, bird watching, fishing and hot peppers.  True passions of his were going to Audiofeed, a Christian music festival; and hot sauce and pepper conventions such as Weekend of Fire and Open Fields, both of where he met many good friends.  Travis had a love for spicy foods, hot peppers and hot sauces.  Above all, Travis loved his family and God and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  Travis will be remembered by his loving wife, Sara Harris of Kalamazoo, MI; step-son, Seth Hancock of Kalamazoo, MI; his mother, Yvonne Harris of Mount Carmel, IL; brother, Troy (Olympia Harris of Pittsboro, IN; nephew, Marc Harris; two aunts, Shirley Westfield and Marilyn Harris; two uncles, Dan (Sue) Johns and Paul (Nancy) Johns; special friend who Travis thought of as a brother, Collin Richey; along with several cousins. Travis was preceded in death by his father, Joe Harris; and niece, Angelica Harris. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Parkview Christian Church,11467 N 1550 Blvd, Mt Carmel, IL 62863 with Pastor Mark Richison officiating.  Family and friends may gather for a Visitation from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made in Travis’ memory to the National Audubon Society or Autism Society of America.  Keepes Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.  To view Travis’ tribute wall, leave condolences and purchase flowers for the Harris family, please visit www.KeepesFuneralHome.com.
