Obituary for Randal E. "Randy" Goodwin
Randal E. Randy Goodwin, 63, of West Salem, IL passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, IL with his loving family by his side. He was born on May 31, 1952 in Knox County, IN, the son of George and Eleanor (Atto) Goodwin. Randy married Monica Hessler on February 14, 1976 in Arlington, VA. Together they enjoyed thirty nine years of marriage. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army. Randy worked at his familys business, Georges Farm Supply in West Salem, IL from his youth. Later with the passing of his father he became owner of the farm supply. He oversaw all the daily operations; where he enjoyed his work meeting and helping people. Randy never knew a stranger and enjoyed telling stories with his family and friends. He also loved riding motorcycles. Randy faithfully attended Saint Sebastian Catholic Church with his family and was a member of the McCormick Post # 658 American Legion of West Salem, IL. Randy will always be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help others. He is survived by his mother, Eleanor Goodwin; loving wife, Monica Goodwin of West Salem; son, Vince Goodwin also of West Salem; sister, Kathy Anderson of Strasburg, IL; brother, Neil Goodwin of Troy, IL; several nieces and nephews. Randy was preceded in death by his father, George Goodwin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Saint Sebastian Catholic Church, 4921 N 1400 Blvd, Mount Carmel, IL with Father Robert Zwilling officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Sebastian Catholic Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Family and friends may gather for a visitation from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Zion United Methodist Church, 207 Jack Allen Drive, West Salem, IL 62476.
