Obituary for Patricia Ann Kieffer
Patricia Ann Kieffer, 67, passed away at her son’s home in Carbondale, CO on Oct. 16th, 2015. Patricia, more fondly known as “Pat,” was born in Princeton, Indiana to Eugene (deceased) and Viola Kieffer. Pat was raised in Mt. Carmel, IL along with her seven other siblings and went on to attend Marian Heights Academy in Ferdinand, IN. As a talented and passionate artist, Pat pursued a degree in Fine Arts at Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, OH where she met her first husband, Steve Morris. They had two children, (son) Andrew, and (daughter) Molly, soon thereafter settled in Eaton, Ohio. While Pat’s foremost joy was that of motherhood, she remained both creative and inquisitive and enjoyed painting as her medium of choice. Her distinguished artistic talent was evident in the work she pursued as an accomplished designer and as a remembered art teacher. When not working on her own 1800’s Victorian home in Eaton, Pat would loan her expertise and eye for design to members of her family during the conception and creation of their residences. Some of her more visible and widely known work includes the design of the town flags that adorn the Main Street of Eaton, OH.
Pat was well known for her love of sampling culturally diverse cuisine, and traveling extensively across the continental U.S. with her husband Gregory Shamaun (deceased), whom she married in 2007. Together Pat and Greg divided their time between their homes in Florida, Ohio, and Colorado. Their beautiful Southwest Colorado home was brought to life in 2009 and was designed in its entirety by Pat. The stunning residence showcased her unique taste and talent and she considered it her final masterpiece.
We will remember Pat for the love she found in the immeasurable beauty of the natural world, her eternal love for adventure, her unwavering capacity for kindness and compassion, and her distinguished creativity.
Pat is survived by her son, Andrew S. Morris (Annie Henderson) and Grandsons, William and Eugene (Kai) Morris of Carbondale, CO.; daughter, Molly Ann Morris (Stacey Margolen) of Kettering, OH; sisters, Linda Keepes (Phillip) of Grayville, IL, Jeanne Condol (William), and Rosie Lewis (Gary); brothers, Donald Kieffer (Carol), Jim Kieffer (Marilyn), Charlie Kieffer (Mary Ruth), and Daniel Kieffer (Kathy) all of Mt. Carmel, IL.
To celebrate Pat’s life, there will be a viewing and short service in Eaton, Ohio on October 28th at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher-Gard Funeral Home from 5pm to 8pm.
On October 30th, there will be a viewing from 8am to 10am followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel, IL. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Mount Carmel, IL.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Jacobs Ladder, PO Box 626, Eaton, OH 45320 in Pat’s memory.
