Obituary for Patricia Sue "Patti" Dunkel
Patricia Sue “Patti” Dunkel, 66, of Mount Carmel, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, IN with her loving family by her side.  She was born February 3, 1951 in Princeton, IN, the daughter of Richard and Anna L. (Ramsey) Brewer.  On August 19, 1972 Patti married the love of her life, Donald “Don” Dunkel and together they have enjoyed forty five years of marriage.  Patti was a member of the Mount Carmel High School graduating class of 1969.  She went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science from Eastern Illinois University.  For twelve years she worked as a school librarian for Wabash Community District #348. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mount Carmel.  Patti was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family meant the world to her.  While she and Don were raising their family, she was a Leader in the Girl Scouts with her daughters for seven years and greatly enjoyed the camp outs and other activities.  She also volunteered in the Cub Scout program helping Don and her sons in their many activities. Patti enjoyed gardening and was blessed with a green thumb.  Her talents were evident by the beautiful flower gardens she enjoyed tending.  Patti’s grandchildren stole her heart.  They were her pride and joy and she loved spending time with them.   Patti will be remembered by her loving husband, Don; children, Alex Robert Dunkel of Simi Valley, CA, Greg (Cassie) Dunkel of Los Angeles, CA, Lori (Nate) Fowler of Mount Carmel, Katie (Chris) Wagener of Haubstadt, IN; grandchildren, Noah Wagener, Isabella Wagener and Jonas Fowler; one brother, Bob (Barb) Brewer; one sister Joyce (Tom) Young. Patti was preceded in death by her parents. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Linda E. White Hospice House for their compassionate care and concern for Patti and her family. Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.,    Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the First Baptist Church, 130 West 6th St., Mount Carmel, IL. Memorial Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2017, at the Church with Pastor Stephen Freels officiating.   Memorial contributions may be made in Patti’s memory to the Linda E.
