Obituary for Omer Lee Brown

Omer Lee Brown, 81, of Mount Carmel, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Oakview Villas surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 5, 1933 in Cardwell MO, the daughter of Marshall Omer and Lona (Allison) Johnson. Omer Lee was a graduate of Fairfield Community High School. She worked for twenty five plus years at Fairfield Memorial Hospital and also Wabash General Hospital. She was also employed at CAC. She enjoyed water aerobics at Wabash Valley College where she made many friends. Omer Lee was a member of Mount Carmel Church of Christ. She will be missed by her family and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Oakview Villas for their compassionate care given to Omer Lee. She is survived by her children, Lora (Bob) Cunningham, Marshall (Kim) Thomason both of Mount Carmel and Norita (Robert) Cox of Foristell, MO.; stepchildren, Elaine (Bob) Feather and Kyle (Ann) Brown; grandchildren, Kerry Cox, Ashlee Catizon, Jamie Tillotson, Meredith Alka, Chandler Atkins, Tyson Wiggins, Elise Thomason, Nate Brown, Brandon Brown, Jae Runsick and Nick Feather; fifteen great grandchildren; sister, Elnora Grothe; brother, Kenneth Johnson; several nieces and nephews. Omer Lee was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Kenneth Thomason on September 13, 1992 and her second husband, Otto Brown in December of 1996. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16 2014, at Mount Carmel Church of Christ, 2400 North Cherry Street, with Pastor Bobby Smith and Omer Lees son in law, Robert Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Wayne County IL. Family and friends may gather for a visitation from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service, Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Omer Lees memory to Oakview Villas Resident Activities. Envelopes will be available at the church or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863. Keepes Funeral Home is serving the family with the arrangements.
