Obituary for Michael D. Hill
Michael D. Hill, 72, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Evansville, Indiana.  He was born on January 7, 1947 in Wayne County, Illinois, the son of James and Reta (Stewart) Hill. Mike faithfully served his country in the United States Army.  He was a proud Vietnam Veteran and was awarded a Purple Heart Medal which is given to wounded Veterans.     He was a self-employed carpenter and was skilled at woodworking.  He enjoyed making things around the house.  During Mike’s younger years, he worked at P & Hirsch department store in Mount Carmel for many years.  He also worked in the heating & air industry.  Among his hobbies, Mike enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and just spending time with family.  Mike loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.  Mike will be remembered by his sons, David Hill of Mount Carmel and Eric (Katie Paynter)  Hill of Millington, TN; daughters, Amy (Keith) Poehlein of Gentryville, IN; grandchildren, Raven, Garrett, Jayda and Josh; brother, John Hill of Mount Carmel; sister, Mary (Jeff) Linson of Mount Carmel; many loved nieces and nephews.  Mike was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Russell Hill. In keeping with Mike’s wishes, cremation will take place and a Memorial Service to honor Mike’s life will be held at a later date. Keepes Funeral Home is serving the family with the arrangements.  To view Mike’s tribute wall and leave condolences for the Hill family, please visit www.keepesfuneralhome.com
