Obituary for Melba R. Bray
Melba R. Bray, 82, of Mount Carmel, IL passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 13, 2017 surrounded by the love of her family.  She was born on August 16, 1934 in Sparta, TN the daughter of Howard and Lura (Lowhorn) Rayborn.  Melba married Ezra Bray on April 23, 1949 and together they enjoyed sixty four years of marriage before his passing on December 27, 2013. Melba will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who lived a life centered around her family. She loved having family gatherings and cooking for her family. Melba was a member of the Mount Carmel Church of Christ.  She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.    Melba will be remembered by her seven daughters, Barbara (Larry) White of Mount Carmel, Sherry (Larry) Meadows, Patti (Myron) Mortland of Mount Carmel, Brenda (Carr) Estes of Godfrey, IL, Cindy (Tim)Cureton of Booneville, IN, Melinda Emery of Mount Carmel, Amy (Ben) Woollard of Mount Carmel; one son, Jeff (Donna) Bray of Sparta, TN; twenty two grandchildren; thirty one great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; brothers, David Rayborn of Mount Carmel and Doty Rayborn of Bellmont, IL; sisters, Aleta (Eddie) Phelps of Mount Carmel and Dean Willis of Memphis, TN; many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.  Melba was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ezra Bray; daughter, Carolyn Swanson; son, Charles Bray; two grandsons, Brandon Swanson and Nathaniel Huie; granddaughter, Alicia Ammon; great grandson, Gaige Brucks; three brothers and four sisters. Family and friends gathered for a Visitation in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home, Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.  Graveside Services followed in Highland Memorial Cemetery where Larry Meadows shared special memories of Melba and closing prayer.  Pallbearers were Larry E. White, Larry K.
