Marybel E. Sloss
Marybel E. Sloss, 94, of Bellmont, IL, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN with her loving family by her side.
She was born on February 19, 1921 in Bellmont, IL, the daughter of Samuel Franklin and Susan Mary (Coale) Hinderliter.
She married James Thomas Sloss, February 11, 1940. He preceded her in death on June 13, 1996. Marybel and James enjoyed 56 years of marriage.
Marybel was a homemaker and business partner with her husband. Her family was most important to her. She had a love for animals and enjoyed traveling. Every summer she made a trip to California and invited family and friends to join her. Marybel had a natural talent for music. She could play any instrument available but especially the fiddle and saxophone. She was part of an orchestra and played live music on the radio. Marybel was a member of the Bellmont Methodist Church. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Marybel is survived by her children, Larry (Trudie) Sloss Sr., and Peggy (Brad) Walling; grandchildren, Larry (Theresa) Sloss Jr., Angie Sloss and Jill Bertram; great-grandchildren , Damon (Traci) Sloss, Heather Wyatt, Alexis Bertram and Brooklyn Bertram; great-great grandchildren, Ryder and Carson Sloss; several nieces and nephews; special caregivers, Linda Beal and Kate Keyes.
Preceding Marybel in death was her husband, James Thomas Sloss; brother, Harlan Samuel Hinderliter; sisters, Helen Tanquary, Viola Arnold, Louise Fromm and Ruth Bailey Smith.
Family and friends are invited to gather from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 3, 2015, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 3, 2015, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Kenny Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Bellmont, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made in Marybel’s memory to the Wabash County Animal Shelter Buddies, 11336 N. 1550 Blvd, Mount Carmel, IL 62863. Envelopes will be at the funeral home or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
