Obituary for Lois E. Holcomb
Lois E. Holcomb, 70, of Mount Carmel, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Wabash General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born the third child on April 6, 1944 in Wabash County, IL the daughter of Alfred and Mildred (Hall) Adams. Lois came from a large family with four brothers and two sisters. She married Ronald Holcomb on April 6, 1961 in Wabash County, IL. Together Ron and Lois enjoyed fifty three years of marriage before Ron preceded her in death on September 2, 2014. Also preceding Lois in death were her parents and brother, Roy Adams. Lois loved her family and treasured the time she spent with them. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren held a special place in her heart. In her free time, Lois loved to play bingo and crochet. She loved to cook and worked at Snack and Grill, Home Cafe, Twin Rivers, and at a former nursing home that was located at the Old Poor Farm. She never knew a stranger and made many friendships through her job. Lois attended the Allendale Christian Church in Allendale, IL. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. She is survived by her loving children, Terry (Michelle) Holcomb of Owensville, IN, Steve Holcomb of Mount Carmel, Pamela (Frank) Smith of Mount Carmel, and Tammy (Clyde) Thompson of St. Francisville; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; siblings, Charles (Barbara) Adams, Richard Adams, Gene (Donna) Adams, Brenda (Richard) Hargrave and Janet (Rick) Oliver all of Mount Carmel. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2015 at the First Christian Church of Allendale with Pastor Bob Harting officiating. Burial will follow at Allendale Cemetery where Lois will be laid to rest next to her loving husband. Family and friends may gather for a visitation from 11:00 a.m. 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made in Lois memory to the First Christian Church of Allendale. Memorial envelopes will be available at the church or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel. Keepes Funeral Home is serving the family with the arrangements.
