Obituary for Larry "Skeeter" Henson
Larry “Skeeter” Henson, 74, of Mount Carmel, IL passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on October 12, 1942 in Wabash County, IL the son of Joe and Martha (Hale) Henson. Skeeter married Sandra Wade on July 4, 1966 at Pentecostal Assembly of God in Mount Carmel. Skeeter and Sandy enjoyed fifty years of marriage.
Skeeter was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend to many. Skeeter was the pillar of his family and was always there for his children. He was a 1961 graduate of Mount Carmel High School. He enjoyed camping at the river with family and friends. On a Friday evening, Skeeter loved to cook for his friends at the river and listen to the Golden Aces Football. He was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Skeeter faithfully served his Country in the United States Army. He worked in the oilfield for FL Beard for fifteen years. Skeeter retired from Duke Energy after twenty years of service. He was a loyal member of Heartland Worship Center and always enjoyed volunteering at their Annual Ham and Bean Dinner in Mount Carmel. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He will be remembered by his loving wife, Sandy Henson of Mount Carmel; son, Larry (Patty) Henson of Mount Carmel; daughter, Kelly Robinson of Carterville, IL; son in law, Toney Smith of Olney, IL; six grandchildren, Tanner and Joe Majors, Morgan and Brooke Robinson, Trevor Henson, Haley and Robert Smith; five great grandchildren, River, Izzy and Kinsley Majors, Prim Kennedy and Rowyn Lung; sister, Joan (Don) Perry of Mount Carmel; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Skeeter was preceded in death by his parents; and loving daughter, Shelly Henson Smith.
Family and friends are invited to gather 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Monday, October, 31, 2016 at Heartland Worship Center, 212 W 2nd Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 31, 2016 at the Church with Pastor Tony Hodgson officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
