Obituary for Joyce A. Marx
Joyce A. Marx, 67, of Mount Carmel, IL passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 at home surrounded by the love of her family. She was born April 14, 1949 in Wabash County, IL the daughter of Sharon and Gloria (Parks) White. Joyce married Don Marx on December 22, 1968 at the First Christian Church in Allendale, IL and together they have enjoyed forty seven years of marriage.
Joyce was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She felt her greatest accomplishment in life was raising their family of four boys. Joyce enjoyed playing the piano and spending time at Kentucky Lake with her family. Her grandchildren were very special to her and she greatly enjoyed family time. Joyce worked many years as a cook at Wabash General Hospital. She was a member of The First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Mount Carmel. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Joyce will be remembered by her loving husband, Don Marx of Mount Carmel; sons, Tracy (Angela) Marx of Louisville, KY, Christopher Marx of Champaign, IL, Alan Marx and Ryan Marx both of Mount Carmel; three grandchildren, Reagan, Patrick and Zoe Marx; her mother, Gloria White of Lawrenceville; and brother, S.E. (Connie) White Jr. of Lawrenceville, IL.
Preceding Joyce in death was her father, Sharon White and sister, Gloria Gray.
Family and friends are invited to gather from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service, Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the church. In keeping with Joyce’s wishes, following the funeral services cremation will take place and a burial service will follow at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made in Joyce’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142 Memphis, TN, 38148-0142. Envelopes will be at the Church or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
