Obituary for Janet Sue Hicks
Janet Sue Hicks, 66, of Mount Carmel, IL passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 6, 1947 in Mount Carmel, IL, the daughter of Bennie D and Charleen (Stoltz) Wood. She married Ed Hicks on March 30, 1978 in Mount Carmel and he survives. Janet loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. In her free time Janet loved being outdoors and enjoyed working in her yard. She loved to cook for her family. Janet worked in the office at Snap-On Tools until its closing then went to work as a teller at the First National Bank of Allendale. She was a member of the Keensburg Christian Church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and nurses of Celtic Healthcare formerly known as VNA Tip Hospice for their compassionate care given to Janet. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of thirty six years, Ed Hicks; two sons, Barry (Kim) Pearson and Jim Ed (Alyson) Hicks both of Mount Carmel; daughter in law, Amy Pearson Clodfelter; four grandchildren, Blake E. Pearson, Brooke E. Pearson, Kasey L. Pearson and Kami A. Pearson; siblings, Tom Wood, Mary Ligon, Gloria Smith and Dianna Sheehan; sister in law, Carolyn Pearson; several nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bruce E. Pearson; and brother, Bill Wood. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Keensburg Christian Church in Keensburg, IL with Pastor Allan Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends may gather for a visitation from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Keensburg Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be made in Janets memory to Celtic Healthcare, 115 West 8th Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863. Keepes Funeral Home is serving the family with the arrangements.
