Obituary for Horace Johnson
Horace Johnson, 97, of Mt. Carmel, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab with his loving family by his side.
He was born on May 19, 1918 in Gibson County, IN the son of William and Effie (Rodgers) Johnson.
He married Helen Spruell on May 5, 1945 and she preceded him in death on January 1, 1994. Together Horace and Helen enjoyed forty eight years of marriage.
Horace faithfully served his country in the United States Army. Horace was a farmer raising hogs where he resided in Lick Prairie for over fifty years. He loved being outdoors, was an avid deer hunter and also enjoyed working in his garden. Horace was baptized of the Christian faith. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter, Lynette (Dennis) Lustfeldt of Mount Carmel; two grandchildren, Michael (Tiffany) Hedge and Stacy Hedge both of Mount Carmel; three great grandchildren, Max, Bradley and Natalee Hedge; brother, Herschel Johnson.
Horace was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen Johnson; great granddaughter, Jillian N. Hedge; siblings, Clarence and Bob Johnson and two infant brothers.
Family and friends are invited to gather from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2015 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2015 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lick Prairie Cemetery in Wabash County, IL with Full Military Honors.
