Obituary for Gerald D. Fischer
Gerald D. Fischer, 74, of Bellmont, IL, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care & Rehab with his loving family by his side.
He was born November 13, 1941 in Wabash County, IL, the son of Ira and Elsie (Doty) Fischer. He married Donna Alspach and together they enjoyed 55 years of marriage.
Gerald worked as a welder for fifty two years. He took great pride in his work. For forty five of those years he was a pipefitter for Union Local # 136. Gerald had a shop behind the family home in Bellmont and greatly enjoyed his time spent there. Gerald loved his family and enjoyed attending his son’s and grandson’s ballgames. His hobbies included remote control airplanes, watching drag racing and also running nets on the Wabash River. Gerald will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Donna Fischer; sons, Reginald Fischer of Owensboro, KY, Randall and his wife Pam Fischer of Bellmont; grandson, Jordan Fischer; three step grandchildren, Laura and her husband Dave Barnett, Jeff Berberich, and Mark and his wife Jena Berberich; three great-grandchildren, Nora, Jacob and Alex; sisters, Jean and her husband Don Greeson, and Patricia Fischer.
Preceding Gerald in death were his parents; a son, Rusty Fischer; and baby daughter, Tina Marie Fischer; sisters, Freda Marks, Voncille Hering and Jeanette Odom.
Family and friends are invited to gather from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2016 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Gerald will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 1, 2016 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Minister David Shain and Pastor Dan Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
