Obituary for Emma Eloise "Dody" Krieg
Emma Eloise “Dody” Krieg, 91, of Mount Carmel departed this life May 23, 2016 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab. She was born July 23, 1924 in Gibson County Indiana the daughter of John and Lena (Rogers) Payne.
Dody grew up in the Gibson County River Bottoms. There she met and fell in love with her husband, John Ferris Krieg. They were married until he departed this world in 1971. During their marriage they had one daughter, Emma Jane Crawley-Grant who preceded her in death in 2002.
Dody worked in the kitchen at Wabash General Hospital from 1973 to 1997. She was a wonderful cook and loved sharing that skill with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a very caring and compassionate person. Dody was a faithful Christian. She was a member of General Baptist Church in Mount Carmel since 1958. When she no longer was able to attend Church Services, she enjoyed watching them on television.
Dody leaves behind two grandchildren, Susan (Al) Addison of Mount Carmel and John (Kristina) Grant of Crossville, IL; six great-grandchildren who loved and adored her, Alexis and Krieg Addison of Mount Carmel who stayed many nights and days with their great-grandma after she became unable to take care of things at home, Robert and Sarah Grant-Deisher of Mount Carmel, Paula and Paxton Grant of Crossville, IL; many loved nephews and nieces; and special caregiver, Martha Woods.
Preceding Dody in death was her parents; her beloved husband, John; daughter, Emma Jane Crawley-Grant; granddaughter, Tammy Jayne Crawley; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Goodson, Sylvia Petty; brother, John Payne; and sons-in-law, Lloyd Crawley and Paul Grant.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Highland Memorial Cemetery where Dody will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband and granddaughter. Pastor Gary Underwood will be conducting the Graveside Service.
