Obituary for Ellen M. Spruell
Ellen M. Spruell, 70, of Mount Carmel, IL passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab. She was born on November 22, 1945 the daughter of Everett and Ruth (Knoerr) Price in Gibson County, IN. Everett passed away during Ellen’s youth and she was raised by Melvin Riggs.

Ellen married Sam Spruell and he preceded her in death December 2006. Also preceding Ellen in death are her parents; son, Everett Spruell; and brother, Dan Riggs.

Ellen was a cook at Hogg Heaven for many years. During her younger years, she loved to go out dancing with family and friends. Ellen treasured her family and in her free time she enjoyed playing cards with her family. She loved keeping in contact with her family and friends through Facebook. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Ellen will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Scott Spruell of Mount Carmel; daughter, Lori (Michael) DeLong of Albion, IL; siblings, Edna (Danny) Leach, Wayne Riggs, Charlie (Judy) Riggs and Lisa (Victor) Marker; grandchildren, Cody Barber, Ashley Spruell, Branden Spruell, AJ DeLong, Shea-Anne DeLong and Analise DeLong; one great grandson, Deirek Spruell; many loved nieces, nephews and cousins; close friends, Michele Spruell and Marva Paris.

In keeping with Ellen’s wishes she will be cremated and no formal services will be held at this time.
