Obituary for Dorothy Elizabeth Davis
Dorothy Elizabeth Davis, 86, of Mount Carmel, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at her residence with her loving family by her side.
She was born on June 26, 1929 in Streator, IL, the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Elizabeth McBride Burkett. Dorothy married Gifford Davis and together they enjoyed forty seven years of marriage before his passing in 1994. Also preceding Dorothy in death were her parents; son, Kenneth Davis; brothers, Frank, Lloyd and Kenneth Burkett; sisters, Etta Bellas, Hazel Manning, Meryl Daddy, Shirley Adams Williams, Carolyn Murphy and Norma Hardy.
Dorothy worked with her late husband in the auction business for over forty years in Mount Carmel and Saint Francisville. She loved being outdoors and enjoyed working in the garden. Dorothy was a member of Heartland Worship Center in Mount Carmel.
She is survived by her children, Jackie (Tim) Knight, LaLoma (Larry) Seibert, Charles Davis, Archie (Diane) Davis, Donna (Don Loseman) Davis, step son, Donavon Davis; twelve grandchildren; thirty two great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; sister, Wilma (Chip) Moore; brother, Grover (Leota) Burkett; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, June Knight.
Family and friends are invited to gather for Visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 20, 2015 at Heartland Worship Center in Mount Carmel.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Church with Pastor Tony Hodgson officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
