Obituary for Donald W. Bauman
Donald W. Bauman, 85, of Allendale, IL, passed away Friday, August 28, 2015 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab.
He was born on June 16, 1930 in Madison, SD , the son of William Bauman and Edith (Koch) Bauman.
He married Betty L. Bauman on May 20, 1951 at the Allendale Christian Church and she preceded him in death on July 17, 2014. Together they enjoyed sixty three years of marriage. Also preceding Don in death were his parents; and sister, Luella Dooley.
Don faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. In his free time, among his hobbies he enjoyed fishing. Don was a former member of Allendale Village Board. He worked for Oil Well Supply for thirty plus years. After his retirement he also worked as a custodian at The First National Bank of Allendale and also the First Christian Church in Allendale. Don was a member of Barneys Prairie Christian Church.
He is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl (Tim) Smith of Mount Carmel and Vicki (Danny) Allen of Allendale; five grandchildren, Matt Smith, Shauna (Nick Blevins) Smith, Adam (Christi) Allen, Drew Allen and Riley Allen; one great granddaughter, Ashton Blevins .
Family and friends are invited to gather from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2015 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2015 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Minister Ray Culver officiating. Burial will follow at Allendale Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
Memorial contributions may be made in Donalds memory to The Alzheimer’s Association, 320 E Walnut Ste. A, Carbondale, IL 62901. Envelopes will be at the funeral home or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
