Obituary for Donald L. Fromm
Donald L. Fromm, 85, of Mount Carmel, IL passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on July 31, 1931 in Bellmont, IL the son of Herman and Louise (Hinderliter) Fromm. Donald was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School class of 1949. He married Delores Jean Fromm on July 21, 1952 in Shawneetown, IL and together they enjoyed sixty two years of marriage before Jean’s passing on December 27, 2014.
Donald faithfully served his country in the United States Army where he was a radio operator during the Korean War. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed traveling to many different American Legion Conventions. He held several office positions at the Legion where he made many friendships. Donald was very proud of his work at Flintkote where he worked for thirty years. Among Donald’s hobbies he was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on the Chicago Bulls and the Dallas Cowboys.
He will be remembered by his son, Jerry (Vonda Sias) Fromm of Mount Carmel, IL; brother, Robert Fromm of Mount Carmel; sister, Joann (Jim) Duncan of Browns, IL; grandchildren, Travis, Amanda, and Jessica Sias; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews. Donald will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sister in law, Doris Fromm.
In keeping with Donald’s wishes he will be cremated. A Celebration of Life to honor Donald will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the V.F.W., 101 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863 with Full Military Honors. A dinner will follow for family and friends.
Memorial contributions can be made in Donald’s memory to the Fromm family to help offset funeral expenses.
