Obituary for Dennis Ray Lowe
Dennis Ray Lowe, 73, of Mount Carmel, IL went to his heavenly home on Friday, October 30, 2015 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care & Rehab with his loving family by his side.
He was born on November 30, 1941 in Princeton, IN, the son of Ray and Helen (Dee) Lowe. Dennis married Sandy Shelton Cunningham on April 26, 1987 at Pentecostal Assembly in Mount Carmel. Dennis and Sandy enjoyed twenty- eight years of marriage. Together they treasured time with family and taking long car rides.
Among Dennis’ hobbies he enjoyed playing chess, working puzzles, and golfing with his friends. He also loved animals. Dennis worked in the oil field industry and was an over the road truck driver. He was highly involved in A.A., attending regional meetings where he was a mentor and made many good friends. Dennis enjoyed attending church with Sandy when he was able, along with a men’s Bible Study at Norm’s Barber Shop.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy Lowe; children, Dawn DeWitt of Mount Carmel, Crystal (Greg) Cunningham Bouhl of Carterville, IL and Rick (Laura) Cunningham of Ocala, FL; eight grandchildren, David (Stephanie) Blanchette, Amber (Brian) Vreeland, Jessica Cunningham (Logan McCoy), Christina DeWitt (Sean Adams), Spencer Bouhl, Olivia Bouhl, Maxx Morale and Lorenzo Morale; and nine great grandchildren. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends are invited to gather for Visitation from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2015 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Dennis will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2015 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Hodgson officiating. Burial will follow at Harrison Cemetery in Lancaster, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dennis’ memory to Safe Haven, 217 West 3rd Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863. Envelopes will be at the funeral home or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
