Obituary for Constance "Conni" Harness

Constance “Conni” Harness, 67, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022, at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 27, 1955, in Mount Carmel, the daughter of Herman and Frances (Wiseman) Tennis. She married James Harness on April 30, 1976, and together they enjoyed forty-six years of marriage.

Conni was a 1973 Graduate of Mount Carmel High School and earned a Master of Business Administration degree at USI. She worked as an HR Director in healthcare. Conni never met a stranger. She was full of life and energy, and you could always count on seeing her running outside. Among many of her favorite quotes is “there is no finish line”. Conni enjoyed sharing her love of running, biking, and hiking with her closest family members. She had a strong faith and was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and choir. Conni also enjoyed being a member of the Philharmonic Chorus in Evansville, Indiana. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her whole family dearly, while enjoying a special kind of joy brought by her grandchildren. She was lovingly referred to as Yaya. Conni’s presence will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Conni leaves behind her loving husband, Jim; one daughter, Cathryn “Caryn” Spencer and husband Jordan; one son, Bryan “Bry” Harness and wife Bailey; three grandchildren, Evan, Chloe and Olivia; brother, Ronald Tennis.

Conni was preceded in death by her parents; two aunts, Gladys Nacht, and Nell Wiseman.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 11, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Robert Zwilling officiating. Entombment will be at Bethel Cemetery at a later date.
