Obituary for Colin L. Soden
Colin L. Soden, 71, of Mount Carmel, IL passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, IN with his loving family by his side. He was born September 26, 1944 in East St. Louis, IL the son of William Soden and June (Vanmatre) Dyehouse and husband, Gene Dyehouse who raised Colin. He married Jeanette Nettleton on March 1, 2008. Together, Colin and Jeanette enjoyed finding treasures at flea markets and yard sales. They also loved to attend church at Hope Fellowship and listen to gospel music.
Colin faithfully served his country in the United States Navy. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His grandchildren were very close to Colin and he enjoyed the time he spent with his family. Colin was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Mount Carmel Golden Aces Football team, Cleveland Browns Football team and Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. Around the Christmas season, Colin could be found volunteering at his church and in the community as “Santa’s Helper”. He proudly earned the nickname “Poppy” from his grandchildren and several young children he mentored. Colin was a member of Hope Fellowship. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
Colin will be remembered by his wife, Jeanette of Mount Carmel; daughters, Angelia (Brent) Seibert of Mount Carmel, Cheryl (Greg) Adams of Batesville, In and step daughter, Christina Draven of Wichita, KS; stepsons, Nathan (Shelley) Duncan and Paul (Christy) Nettleton; grandchildren, Kali (Chevy Bump) Curry, Jeremy (Nicole Lapka) Hitch, Emily (James Lewis) Curry, Rylee (Ian) Knowles, Brandon Adams, Taylor McConnell, Hunter, Jacob and Caleb Draven; great grandchildren, Brayden, Sophia, DeSean, Jonah, Brynlee and Kaenan; brother, Mike (Connie) Dyehouse; sisters, Kay Prosise and Carolyn Lowe; many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Colin was preceded in death by his father, William Soden; mother, June (Gene) Dyehouse; brothers, Joe and Gary Soden; sister, Judy Esparza; and infant brother.
Family and friends are invited to gather from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 15, 2016 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2016 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
