Obituary for Charles French

Charles French, 76, of Mount Carmel, IL, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care & Rehab. He was born on November 8, 1938 in Mount Carmel, IL, the son of Ernest and Opal (Comstock) French. He married Frances Lee (Trusty) French on August 9, 1996 in Henderson, KY, and she survives. Charles and Frances enjoyed eighteen years together and they loved spending time together with their family. Together they rode motorcycles and enjoyed attending motorcycle club meetings. Charles loved his family and treasured the time he spent with them. In Charles era with schooling being limited, he was very gifted with his hands. He loved tinkering with everyday items and loved finding ways to simplify their function to make life easier. He was very grateful of the gifts God bestowed on him. Charles retired from Pacific Press as a machinist where he worked for thirty-seven years. He was a member of GWRRA, a motorcycle club, and he attended church at the First Apostolic Church in Mount Carmel. He will be remembered being a gentle spirit and a very proud man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Frances French of Mount Carmel; children, Donna Letson of Evansville, IN, Sue (Barry) Loy of Natchez, MS, Danny (Jennifer) French of Evansville, IN, John French of Natchez, MS, David (Beth) French of Anderson, IN, Christopher (Mindy) French of Owensville, IN, Van (Andrea) Trusty of Washington, IN, and Laci (Phillip) Beyes of Iwakuni, Japan; thirteen grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Charles will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Ruth Ann French; three sisters, Faye Burton, Jewell Adams and Betty Phelps. Funeral services will be from 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2014, at the First Apostolic Church, 1121 Cedar Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863. Bishop Paul McGee will be officiating. Entombment will follow Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mount Carmel, IL. Family and friends may gather for a visitation from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Charles memory to Wabash County Animal Shelter Buddies, 11336 N. 1550 Blvd, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
