Obituary for Carolyn Sue Allen
Carolyn Sue Allen, 75, of Mount Carmel, IL, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 15, 1938 in Mount Carmel, the daughter of Virgil J. and Edna Mae (Peterson) Dunn. Sue married Robert K. Sug Allen on September 10, 1957 at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mount Carmel, IL. He preceded her in death on February 22, 2012. Sue was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Dunn; sisters, Joan Sullivan, Phyllis Keepes, Imogene Stoltz and Norma Burell; niece, Sandy Keepes. For several years Sue was employed by Thordarson Meissners. Her priority job in life was being a Homemaker and loving mother. She enjoyed crocheting, reading novels, spending time with family and friends at the river camp and attending family reunions. Sue loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and most of all she always put others before herself. She is survived by her children, Robert (Natalie) Allen III, Mark Allen, Chris Allen, Karen (Larry) Burns, Cathy Allen and Suzanne Garrett (Mike) all of Mount Carmel; grandchildren, Nathan Allen, LeAnne Burns, Larry Burns, Jessica Mason, Bobbi Sue Allen, Ryan Allen, Blake Allen, Eddie Garrett and Derek Garrett; great grandchildren, Malachi Trusty, Mason Allen, Joseph Burns, Savannah Meier, Brayden Mason, Nevaeh Schmitt, and Jayden Schmitt; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Mount Carmel Church of Christ, 2400 North Cherry Street in Mount Carmel with Pastor Bobby Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends may gather for a visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service, Friday, October 31, 2014 at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Sues memory to Celtic Healthcare, 115 West 8th Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863. Memorial envelopes will be available at the church or may be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry, Mount Carmel, IL, 62863 Keepes Funeral Home is serving the family with the arrangements.
